SSR-RC is a gateway to faculty who can conduct multi-disciplinary research in autonomous systems. Areas of particular expertise are:

• Video surveillance
• Search, recon, rescue technology
• Human-robot interaction, including affective expression
• Computer mediated command and control – Robotic victim management
• Training and protocols for computer mediated processes
• Environmental monitoring and disaster mitigation
• Wireless communications in unfavorable environments
• Terrain analysis and terrain-sensitive planning and navigation
• Robot design constraints, parameters, sensor placement, failure modes, use patterns

We have depth and basic research funding in these areas, plus have breadth in related areas such as operations research, human factors which are needed to produce a comprehensive systems level understanding.
